This congress is special to us because this year also marks the 10th Anniversary of PICQS and our 10th Anniversary of joining the PAQS.

The world is faced with challenges of urbanization, ageing infrastructure, climate change, population growth, scarcity of resources and lack of technology and skilled professionals. Smart City initiatives are identified to be one of the solutions to overcome these challenges.

The Philippines’ Construction Industry recognizes these challenges and has launched the Philippine Construction Industry Roadmap 2020-2030, which aims to support the massive infrastructure program and creation of smart cities in order, to have a modern, sustainable and resilient future.

With the emergence of smart cities, we have developed the theme “Creating Smart Cities to Help Build the Future” for PAQS Congress Philippines 2021. The Congress aims to focus on the role of the Quantity Surveyors and other allied professionals in ensuring sustainability, mobility, digitalization, resilience, standardization and competence in the construction industry.

The congress is envisioned to be the biggest gathering of Quantity Surveyors and allied professionals. As the QS profession in the Philippines is not known as a distinct discipline, the congress would be a unique platform to raise the profile of the QS profession in the country. The Organizing Committee, who are all volunteers of PICQS, has been exerting great effort and commitment in the preparation of a comprehensive educational and entertaining program that will feature prominent international and local speakers delivering a wide range of topics. There will also be technical visits, heritage tours, social and fun activities, so participants can have the opportunity to not only share knowledge and best practices in the profession, but also to network with other professionals and experience the hospitality and warmth of the Filipinos.
