Improving construction project performance through remote monitoring technology: A practice in the Chinese construction industry

This talk mainly focuses on the introduction of a practice in the Chinese construction industry to improve the construction project performance through remote monitoring technology. Three types of scenario will be used as the cases in demonstrating why and how this technology has been increasingly applied in China: subway construction projects, supervision of project safety and labor resources by the government department, and project portfolio management by large real estate or construction companies. 

 

Dr. Zhang is currently an associate professor and the head of Construction Management Department at Suzhou University of Science and Technology in China. He has been working as a faculty member and researcher in construction management for over eighteen years. His research interest mainly includes mental health, safety, and construction management education.

 

Apart from teaching and research at the university, Dr. Zhang has extensive experiences in project management practice, and maintained an excellent networking with the local construction industry.
